Authentic Romantic Historical Fiction

Last week at retreat was fun!

Last week

I went to a writers retreat last week that is sponsored by a group I started thirty-odd years ago. They have it at a huge, gorgeous cabin in the woods in eastern Arizona.

Thirty-seven other brilliant writers were there, all women, all super nice. We always bring snacks to share. The goodies covered an entire counter in the kitchen. Such a multitude of yummies! As always, we had plenty of chocolate to stoke our brains. This year, however, I noticed a trend toward healthy snacks.

One thing that could have affected us badly was a fire burning in the Tonto National Forest southwest of our location. The fire caused a lot of smoke in the air, so several of us stayed indoors to limit our exposure to polluted air. The smoke did create some spectacular sunsets, though, and a pretty odd-looking sun.

Work in Progress

I did a fair amount of research for my work in progress (WIP), which features Mrs. Charity Bingham from the Owen Family Saga novel Trail of Storms. I reorganized what I had previously written, and added several thousand words, as well. This so-far untitled work is a romantic story for the Shenandoah Neighbors line that I hope you’ll love.

I’m excited about continuing work on it, but I’m slightly impeded by a task I need to complete for the Payson Book Festival.

Payson Book Festival

That event is coming up on Saturday, July 20, in the ballroom of the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino, on Highway 87 at the south side of Payson, Arizona.

The Book Festival is a family-friendly event that runs from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., featuring 90 authors, a bookstore, the Story Monster, lots of kids’ activities, and presentations and entertainment from featured authors in two side rooms.

Where to find me

I’ll be at Table 45 on the west side of the ballroom. Come visit me and take a look at the books at my table (also in the bookstore). They will be on sale at event prices you don’t want to miss.

See you there!

Stuff Going On

It seems like forever since I’ve sent out a post. You’ve probably thought so, too. Actually, it was only last January, but over the last six months, I’ve been busy going to various medical offices, taking care of several issues, including water on the knee. Oh! That was exceedingly painful.

The good news is that I’ve made nice progress in rehabilitating the knee. I’ve walked without any assisting devices for a couple of months now. Boy, I’m glad of that. It’s really awkward to cart around a cane or two and still manage a purse and usually, a tote bag of some kind.

More good news is that I’m working on a piece featuring Mrs. Charity Bingham from Trail of Storms. If you’ll remember, she’s a widow, but now she has a chance at a new romance, which comes about in a very unusual way. Keep your eyes open for tidbits on social media and my website about Charity and her new, very handsome sweetheart. This seasoned romance will take Charity on a journey into a whole new world!

Fresh Books all over the Place!

I’ve been away from my website for a while, dealing with medical issues and website glitches, too. Now I’m back. Sorta. I’m still working on a knee problem.

But for the last two weeks, I’ve been laboring over books of a new sort for me: Journals, and Writing Logs for Indie Authors.

Why?

Because with slumping book sales, I needed to try something new that I could accomplish in a short amount of time, but that would be quality products of benefit to readers, writers, and journalers.

I created six 6-by-9-inch, brightly-colored, 110 page lined journals with glossy covers. These blank books have many uses, and make great gifts for loved ones, teachers, and special friends.

I also mentioned Writing Logs for Indie Authors. I created two logs, one of which offers both a white and tan cover. That is the Log for keeping track of uploads and updates for Print on Demand books. The other book is for tracking information during the creation of ebook or print covers. This log can be useful to book cover designers as well as authors who do their own covers.

Just click on an image to go find the Journal or Log you want to buy.
